EAR PWR Tickles My Eardrums

March 11, 2009 at 5:03 pm (Uncategorized)

I saw this a couple weeks back, and considered posting it, instead, I was set on using another clip for my research blogs.

Exclaim.ca covered Carpark Record’s signing of experimental, electro-pop duo EAR PWR (pronounced Ear Power) at the end of February. Originally from Asheville, N.C., Devin and Sarah moved up to Baltimore.

If you’re following my every move, you might notice that my Twitter posts have been kind of odd. And it’s all thanks to this band. They’ve got a some synthesizers, a little bit of megaphone, a lot of layering and a new lyric each time you take a listen.

I also talked to the proprietor of Carpark Records, who said that he signed EAR PWR because he liked their music and they put on a great live show.

EAR PWR is playing in Baltimore tomorrow night at Zodiac with label-mate Adventure. I can’t wait. It’s going to be hot and full of energetic, dancing hipsters. I’d like to say hello. And maybe talk to some people for my project. I think that it shall be a good time for everyone.

Friday night they play Asheville and then head to Texas to take on the SXSW showcase. They play in Baltimore again on May 17, so if you’re interested I think it’s your best bet to come out tomorrow night. Otherwise, it’s a pretty long wait.

It’s also two days before their first album, Super Animal Brothers III drops. For now, you have to get your fill on Myspace.

Also on Carpark is Wham City veteran Dan Deacon.
